Every property at Plawsworth Hall has a fully equipped kitchen as standard. Across the range that includes: oven, hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, and all the cookware and crockery you’d expect in a properly set-up kitchen at home. The one-bedroom apartments have gas hobs; the cottages and two-bedroom options are equipped with hobs and the full complement of appliances.
Most properties also have a washer/dryer, and there’s a shared laundry facility on site as well. We stopped providing welcome packs because dietary requirements and allergies made them more of a minefield than the gesture intended. What you get instead is a kitchen that actually lets you manage your own food, which, for most guests, is the more useful option anyway.
Why it matters more than it sounds
When you’re staying somewhere for two or three nights, eating out every evening is fine. When you’re there for a week, or two weeks, or longer, the kitchen stops being a nice-to-have and starts being the thing that makes the stay work.
Families travelling with young children tend to feel this most acutely. Babies and toddlers don’t adapt well to restaurant schedules. Being able to prepare meals at the time that suits the family, without negotiating a menu or waiting for a table, takes a meaningful amount of stress out of a trip. The same goes for guests with specific dietary requirements. When you control the kitchen, you control what goes in the food.
For longer-stay guests, those relocating to the area, on temporary work contracts, or in between homes, the kitchen shifts from convenience to necessity. The alternative is eating out for every meal, for weeks on end. Few people want that, and fewer budgets stretch to it comfortably.

There are no hidden charges on checkout. When you factor in the cost of eating out twice a day, a self-catering stay with a proper kitchen starts to look considerably more economical than the nightly rate alone might suggest.
For families especially, the difference can be substantial. Cooking breakfast and the occasional evening meal in the property, eating out when you actually want to rather than because you have no other option, that’s a different kind of holiday arithmetic.
The three-bedroom cottage
For larger groups or families, the three-bedroom cottage at Plawsworth Hall has an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, the kind of layout that works well when you’re cooking for several people and want everyone in the same space. It includes all the standard kitchen equipment plus a dishwasher, and selected cottages have private outdoor space or patio access, worth asking about when you book with us.
The open-plan setup makes a practical difference when you’re actually using it. There’s room to cook without being separated from the rest of the group, and a proper dining area for eating together rather than balancing plates on knees.
In practice
The kitchen detail matters because it affects how a stay actually feels day to day. A well-equipped kitchen means the flexibility to eat what you want, when you want, at a cost you control. It means parents aren’t negotiating with tired children outside a restaurant at 6pm. It means guests with dietary needs aren’t scanning menus for something they can eat.
